Abstract:

UNDO:REDO – Thinking Outside the Cube culminates a diverse range of research and curatorial exploration to further investigate the reclamation and reactivation of untraditional architectural and creative spaces across Victoria, Australia. UNDO:REDO delves into the notion of narrative, closely considering the interaction of space and place with colonial and post-colonial sites. Through explorative curatorial interventions, the select sites reject the traditional confines of the modernist white cube. Through a collection of academic research, spatial investigation and site-specific proposals the project is realised fully through an online digital database that merges spaces and places. UNDO:REDO presents the opportunity for collaboration with creative practitioners.
Providing a platform to amplify the voices of marginalised communities, bring light to persistent global conundrums and introduce bold curatorial concepts into site-specific space. The digital platform UNDO:REDO is a central online inventory of sites which catalogues under-utilised (UNDO) and reimagined (REDO) spaces, each contextualised through artistic, cultural, architectural and historical lenses. The aim is to unite creative practise and place-making; introducing an accessible tool to activate social engagement and build frameworks for innovative curatorial interventions.
