ROAD NOISE

Spenser Paul’s Honours project, Road Noise, explores the symbiotic relationship between the culture and activity of motorcycling and the landscape that it inhabits.

Motorcyclists exist as features within the landscape, with little insulation from the world around them, they live with the road six inches from their boots.

Captured during a road trip across the United States, Road Noise invites the audience to explore the landscape and meet the motorcyclists of the United States from the perspective of a rider exploring their own identity and culture. Influenced by the work of Danny Lyon and Alec Soth, Spenser’s journey takes us from the endless suburbs of Los Angeles to the tight box canyons of Utah and everywhere in between.
