HEAVENLY CREATURES is a photographic project exploring alternative methods of representing the female body in fashion photography. The commercially-inspired photographs accentuate rather than hide aspects of the female body that society deems undesirable, including menstrual blood, fat, pubic hair, stretch marks and acne. These aspects of the body are included and enhanced to challenge the idea that women can only exist in the space of fashion photography when they are presented as shiny objects.
