UNTITLED
This was the first place I went to with the aim of making new pictures. I wasn’t too sure why. There was something about it that kept drawing me in. A bit of hanging net overlooking the city from the south. Its surrounds started to change, yet still, it performs. Mirroring the wind, time, and the slow change of things. At the start I was on and off, I had breaks from it. But then I became obsessed with it. And then it was gone. A quick fling.
Taken during a point in time of uncertainty I later realised I was perhaps responding emotionally to something wider, and more complex. I started to recognise the frail but vital relationship photography had with its own limitations. To walk along this line – no. Press down gently along this line.
Here lies a net. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a hanging bit of net. But within that holds everything. And nothing at the same time.
