THESE SHADOWS THEY WALK BESIDE ME is an existential journey through mental illness and my attempts at grasping the meaning of existence.
This series traverses natural environments, multiple life forms, and shadows – all facets of my internal landscape. The shadows are my subconscious, and I am forever running from them.
The experience of loss in the wake of depression makes me contemplate the abyss of mental illness and the questions of meaning that haunts me.
This work depicts my own struggles with escaping shadows and the transcension of physical form, as I seek meaning and answers to existential questions.
…But perhaps a ‘continual search for truth’ is the only truth? Is this an ouroboros? A journey without an end? Is impermanence, eternity?
