ACAE Gallery Emerging Artist Award.
TO LOITERING TO ARRIVE explores the role of vitality in the realm of art and human life. I intend to use animal figures as vehicles, and incorporate my feelings and thoughts about vitality into them. By focusing on the subject of animals, it is my intention to investigate a variety of intuitive reactions to their forms without preconceived notions. This freedom from such restrictions is a fundamental element of my practice and forms the basis of my philosophy.
In the process of drawing or painting, I am always willing to explore the endless possibilities created by different dynamics of brushworks, and fullness and vividness of colour relationships, as well as the distribution of visual weight. I believe that by cultivating these possibilities I can infuse the work with a sense of flow of energy, a perceptible vitality.
