I spent the first 18 years of my life in Mparntwe/Alice Springs on beautiful Arrernte Country, surrounded by mountain ranges that glow rich red under deep blue skies. I left five years ago, and as time passes I lose more and more connection to this little isolated town in the middle of Australia. My love for this desert never drifts and even though the life I use to have no longer exists, out there, on the soft haze of the river bed, I find home.

In This is Home, I wanted to explore my strong connection and love for the Country I had the privilege to grow up on, while acknowledging the time that has passed. I created a photobook that unpacks what home means to me and common difficult feelings of having to leave home to create a new life for yourself. It guides the viewer through the emotions that returning home evoked for me at this particular point in my life. This book captures just a brief moment on this ever-changing land. As my life goes on, I will always return here and note how time has moved.
