Hello, my name is kai lazaro and i am a queer artist 🙂
In the majority of my photography, my line of work entails to convey my personal experiences in life and how my identity is shaped. i connect personally with my work and produce images that relate to the characteristics that build my character.
My series The Diaries from a Lonely Heart is an extension from a previous series where it outlines recovery and healing. In the previous series it deals with the process of heartbreak after having an very intimate relationship with another person. In the depths of the series, heartbreak becomes present and i outline my emotions. During this time i had gotten into journalling as a mental goal for me, so with my series i was deeply inspired by my words and created a visual imagery to the words that i had written. Capturing the emotion i felt and conveying those themes visually, the photo book was presented as if you were looking at my personal diary, it was very raw and vulnerable of me. So, i decided to extend the series that captures myself in a better mental space. In The Diaries from a Lonely Heart, moments of reflection, optimism, self journey and sadness are present. But compared to the previous work, it shows me in more optimistic light.
