ONE THOUSAND PIECE JIGSAW (I WILL PUT MYSELF TOGETHER AGAIN, AND AGAIN) is a photographic installation that explores self expression, identity, body and purpose. Mirroring the change in place, environment, and lifestyle as a person grows up, the personal exploration of identity and sense of purpose changes and develops, though it can barely be called easy. This work is the literal and physical act of breaking the self apart and then piece by piece, putting it back together.
My past does not define me and my future does not contain me.
I will put myself back together again, and again,
and I will learn to be myself.
My photographic origins lie in sports photography, however in 2024 I moved away from my childhood home and since then have felt like a stranger in, and disconnected from my current home. This was the catalyst to a shift in my practice, I have become interested in exploring themes like self expression and body, and how place ultimately plays a part in shaping our ever-changing identity and purpose.
(need photos from assessment/install to put in here)
