Corrupted Growth
I would like to acknowledge that the images in this work were taken on both Taungarang and Wurundjeri land, and I pay my respects to the elders, past, present, and emerging, recognising their ongoing relationship to the land, waters, and skies.
Since European colonisation, the land we now call Australia has been continuously torn down and ripped apart to satisfy the desires of humans. In the modern world, Australia sits as one of the most rapidly urbanising countries, and with that comes large-scale and unequivocally horrific deforestation. As the urban environment encroaches on our natural environment, we notice every small detail that does not belong.
Corrupted Growth is an installation that creates awareness and recognition of the beauty of both native and non-native trees that grace our luxurious Australian landscape. Comprises images from forests in Central Victoria and materials from urban areas that we interact with every day. The interactive environment immerses the viewer in an atmosphere of ecological dissonance, emphasising to each viewer the importance of protecting our flora from becoming engulfed by urban materials.

As a documentor and artist, I desire to push the boundaries of non-linear documentary, bridging the gap between what can be considered an artwork and a documentary. My interests primarily lie in communities and cultures, engaging with people on both a local and international level, and serving as a platform for those who wish to share.
