This photographic series was inspired by my previous series Ghosts from Semester 1 in 2024. In the portraits, the muse was played by some of my friends in a ghost costume. I chose for my muse to be an archetype with a limited sense of identity as I wanted to connect to the viewers and have them see themselves within the portrait. The ghost was always expressionless as its only features were black patches as eyes, but the poses changed from standing to sitting and sometimes its arms were visible. This was to protect its human nature and create a character for each ghost. Shot primarily in gardens and public parks, it focused on the individual alone but embraced by its natural environment.

This latest continuation features self-portraits of the artist, the sun interacting with plants and trees, open spaces of nature and urban and natural landscapes. Like the first series, I was attempting to visualise and capture a sense of the loneliness I have experienced throughout the year. This is due to travel and relationships shifting, and it highlights how life forces us to adapt to emotional and physical change.

For my final presentation, I made a photo book with my images from this semester to give the viewer a sense of journey and time passing as they turn each page. Displayed on a larger scale, are my favourite images that ultimately complete the book.
