RETRO-FUTURISTIC ECHOES (Areas A-J) AI-infused artistry of the pulp Sci-Fi era
My final art project for the Honours program Retrospective Echoes (Areas A-J) marries the aesthetics of retro sci-fi pulp movies from the 1950s through to the 70s, 80s and 90s with cutting-edge AI technology. It is an exploration of the intricate relationship between human creativity, artificial intelligence, and the symbiotic exchange of visual ideas in the digital age. The project employs a multifaceted approach that includes prompt engineering, composite image-making using a combination of stock images, digital painting, personal photography, and Photoshop techniques.
My name is Donna Venables. I am an image maker from rural Victoria, studying a BA Photography (Honours) at RMIT. My practice is composite/collage surreal landscape image-making which has led me to explore the potential of AI art. I endeavour to expand and develop my artistic practice and understanding of the ever-changing landscape of what it means to be an artist and how this is reflected in the world.
