Canvas – Rubrics

Canvas offers the capacity to easily design rubrics and attach them to assessment items like assignments, quizzes or discussions. As a teacher you can create, edit, and delete rubrics in your course. Rubrics are one modality of feedback in Canvas and are easily supplemented with audio, video, annotated assignment submissions or additional text feedback.

Designing Rubrics

  1. In Course Navigation, click Outcomes.
  2. Click the Rubrics menu accessed at the top right and choose Manage Rubrics
  3. Click Add Rubric allocating points to levels. Note that points are automatically converted to % when grading.
  4. When creating assignments, discussions or quizzes you can add one of the rubrics you have added.
  5. Alternatively, you can create and save rubrics while designing assignments, discussions or quizzes.
